According to the concentration of cyanide, the wastewater produced by gold mine cyanide plant can be divided into three categories: high concentration of cyanide wastewater, usually produced by cyanidation of flotation gold concentrate, cyanide concentration above 350mg/l; medium concentration of cyanide wastewater, The cyanide concentration produced by cyanide concentration in 150~350mg/l from the cyanidation of ores with more complex composition (such as barrel, high sulfur); and the cyanide wastewater with low concentration, produced by the cyanide plant that treats the simple oxidized ore, wastewater with cyanide concentration below 150mg/l.
The main methods used to treat cyanide-containing wastewater in China include chlorine oxidation (also called alkali chlorine process), acidification process, sulfur dioxide air process, activated carbon oxidation process, tailings self-purification and drainage cycle process, etc.
The cyanide content in wastewater treated by acidification recovery process can not reach the standard, so it must be treated twice, which is only suitable for the treatment of high concentration cyanide wastewater. Sulfur dioxide-air process is suitable for the treatment of cyanide-containing wastewater with high ferrous cyanide content in recent ten years. Its defect is that it can not oxidize sulphur cyanide, so its application scope is limited. The activated carbon catalytic oxidation process has the advantages of low investment and low cost, but it can not treat the slurry. It is only suitable for the wastewater with simple composition and low cyanide concentration. Activated carbon adsorption is only suitable for the final treatment of advanced treatment, with low investment, low cost and easy operation. It can not only adsorb and oxidize cyanide in wastewater, but also recover precious metal from wastewater. Waste water recycling includes barren solution circulation process and tailings reservoir wastewater recycling process (including cyanide tail filtration-filtrate circulation process). Alkali-chlorine process is a mature and perfect process, which can not only treat waste liquid and slurrry, but also can be used to treat cyanide wastewater of various concentrations. It has the advantages of low investment, low cost, simple operation and so on. It is widely used at home and abroad.
Each process has its applicability, only according to the characteristics of wastewater treatment process can give consideration to environmental benefits, economic benefits and social benefits. According to the characteristics of cyanide-containing wastewater produced by the carbon in pulp extraction process, most of the carbon in pulp plants adopt alkali chlorine process as the wastewater treatment process. In addition, the activated carbon adsorption process and the waste water recycling process of tailings reservoir are also applicable to the treatment of wastewater from the carbon in pulp plant, which has been applied in some mines.
